Sylvain Marveaux and Ivan Toney to feature for Newcastle U21s today

St James Park

The Newcastle United Under-21 side will face their Swansea City counterparts this afternoon.

Sylvain Marveaux is set to feature for the Newcastle United Under-21 side this afternoon, according to the club’s official website.

The 29-year-old midfielder will play a role for the Magpies’ youth team against their Swansea City counterparts at Whitley Park.

The Frenchman has been on the sidelines since pre-season, but he returned to training earlier this month and will further step up his comeback to first-team action.

The former Rennes star, who has been on the books of Newcastle since the summer of 2011, played on loan for Ligue 1 outfit En Avant de Guingamp last season.

Newcastle have also announced that Rob Elliot will be involved in today’s match. The 29-year-old goalkeeper is not the first-choice for manager Steve McClaren, and he will be pleased to get some playing time this afternoon.

Elliot, a Republic of Ireland international, has been on the books of the Magpies since 2011.

Forward Ivan Toney, who made his debut for Newcastle against Chelsea at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening, will also play.
