According to the Daily Star, Ajax youngster Anwar El Ghazi has been garnering interest from the Premier League in recent weeks, with Southampton, Stoke City and Bournemouth all keen on moving for him in the January transfer window.
Stoke are looking to continue their plans of securing bright young players from across Europe, whilst Bournemouth are hoping to allure El Ghazi to the Premier League with promises of consistent first-team football.
Southampton have the same draw, with the added benefit of already being an established Premier League side, and with head coach Ronald Koeman sharing the same nationality as El Ghazi - who has been called up to the senior Dutch side for the first-time for the international break later this month.
The report also states that Chelsea have scouted the youngster in recent months, but it is Southampton, Stoke and Bournemouth who are said to be the frontrunners, with the concrete plans to actually swoop for El Ghazi in the January window.
Who is Anwar El Ghazi?
El Ghazi is a 20-year-old attacking player who has played all his professional career with Ajax, having moved from Sparta’a youth system to the Amsterdam ArenA in 2013.
Able to play on the right wing or upfront, the youngster has made 55 appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 17 goals and registering 10 assists, and building a reputation as one of the most promising players in the Eredivisie.
He has experience of both Champions League and Europa League football, and has been a consistent first-team player since last season. Capped at every youth level for the Netherlands from Under-17 to Under-21, he has been called up to the senior side by Danny Blind for the next round of international fixtures, as the Dutch boss hopes to secure his international future with Morocco also pining for his services.
