Joao Teixeira impressed for Liverpool's under-21 side on Monday.
Liverpool prospect Joao Teixeira impressed for the Reds' under-21 side in a 2-1 victory over Leicester City.
Teixeira almost scored the winner himself late on, before fellow midfielder Cameron Brannagan struck an 88th minute winner, to add to Jerome Sinclair's earlier striker.
The Portuguese prospect impressed in pre-season for Liverpool but has once again been overlooked when it comes to first team football.
He was not included in the Capital One Cup side which beat Carlisle United on penalties last week, nor was he among those flown out to Bordeaux for the Europa League.
The midfielder was signed from Sporting Lisbon while Kenny Dalglish was manager, and has found chances hard to come by under Brendan Rodgers.
He was sent out on loan to Brighton and Hove Albion last season, where he did well before suffering a broken leg.
The 22-year-old has only played one first team game for Liverpool, but has been a strong performer for the under-21s, scoring eight goals in 36 appearances.
Liverpool have more chances to work him into the first team in the coming months, with Europa League and Capital One Cup games coming up, but if they fail to do so then the player may rightly ask questions over his future.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted to his display for the under-21s last night...
