Darren Bent scored his first Championship goal of the season for Derby to help inspire a 3-1 win away to MK Dons.
Bent has struggled to hold down a place in the side after joining on a permanent basis this summer.
The 31-year-old struck in the 89th minute to put the Rams 2-1 up, before Tom Ince scored an injury time goal to add gloss to the scoreline.
Bent sent a message to fans via Twitter on Monday morning, expressing his delight at playing his part in a Derby victory.
Great win on Saturday showed our character to come away with the 3 points. Buzzing to help with a goal too— Darren Bent (@DarrenBent) September 28, 2015
It was only Bent's fifth game played this season in the Championship, and lifted the Rams into the top eight.
Derby are just one point off a play-off spot, which bodes well despite a poor start to the season.
Derby have been too reliant on Chris Martin for goals this season, and Bent getting on the scoresheet is a good sign.
It can only take one goal to give a striker his confidence back, and Bent's message suggest he is suddenly feeling more positive about his involvement.
Bent had started the game on the bench, and only came on for Martin in the 80th minute. Manager Paul Clement will have to decide whether to give the striker a start for their next fixture, at home to Brentford on Saturday.
