The former midfielder was impressed with their high work-rate throughout the win over Manchester City.
Spurs put in a highly accomplished performance on Saturday afternoon to see off Manuel Pellegrini’s side at White Hart Lane, running out comfortable winners in a game they had initially trailed in.
It was their third straight victory in the Premier League, having initially struggled for wins this season, and Murphy was keen to highlight the impressive fitness levels that were on display once again.
"I was really impressed with their fitness levels, again as the game went on," he told Match of the Day.
"It was the same at Sunderland a couple of weeks ago and Crystal Palace last weekend and Pochettino is known for that."
Were Tottenham undercooked at the beginning of the season?
There is an argument that this Tottenham squad were lacking fitness coming into this season, hence their somewhat slow start.
After a busy season last term, in which there were also the added Europa League games, they played extra post-season friendlies as well as their usual pre-season routine.
With Pochettino liking his side to have a high intensity pressing game, that is all sure to have had an effect, and there is every chance they entered the season somewhat undercooked.
However, as the weeks have rolled by, they have gradually got back to their higher fitness levels, with the 4-1 defeat of City a clear demonstration that Tottenham are back at their peak condition again.
That is something Pochettino will no doubt be pleased with and he’ll be hoping they can carry on their impressive form for some weeks to come.
