The former Chelsea man had knee surgery in the summer.
Southampton put in an assured and comfortable performance this weekend to blow past Swansea City at St Marys with a great 3-1 victory.
Goals from Virgil van Dijk, Dusan Tadic and Sadio Mane did the job for Southampton, with Gylfi Sigurdsson scoring Swansea’s goal from the penalty spot after Jose Fonte’s clumsy challenge on Neil Taylor.
It was a performance that demanded respect as Southampton again earmarked their position as one of the best of the rest in the Premier League this season.
After the game of course plenty of Southampton players were on Twitter expressing their joy at the result – including James Ward-Prowse:
Ryan Bertrand was also on Twitter after the game, but his message was a little more personal.
Time for #MOTD I've missed that feeling. Not the win. The mental prep and buzz getting into the winning mindset before kick off.— Ryan Bertrand (@ryanbertrand3) September 26, 2015

The left-back started his first game of the season yesterday. The defender underwent minor knee surgery in July and has been recovering ever since.
Yesterday however he was back in action and was clearly over the moon at making it back from his knee trouble.
With Luke Shaw and Leighton Baines both currently injured Bertrand will hope to continue his recovery back from injury and perhaps find a place in the England set-up once again.
