Leeds United lost their second league game of the Championship season with a 3-0 defeat away at Middlesbrough this afternoon.
David Nugent struck early on to give Boro the lead, before Giuseppe Bellusci turned the ball into his own net following a mix-up with Marco Silvestri.
Diego Fabbrini then capitalised on another Leeds defensive error late on, as Sol Bamba's slip allowed the on-loan Watford star to score the third goal and send Leeds home empty handed.
In a game of few positives for Leeds fans, they can be at least somewhat encouraged by the performance of new signings Jordan Botaka.
The DR Congo international winger, 22, joined Leeds from Excelsior on deadline day, but has so far been held bak by manager Uwe Rosler whilst he gets up to speed with the rest of the squad.
Today though, the pacey wide man was unleashed against Boro, and he had some promising moments of quality, including a pinpoint cross for Mirco Antenucci, which was headed straight at goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos.
Leeds fans took to Twitter after the final whistle to discuss Botaka's performance, with many suggesting that they are encouraged by his display, believing that he will only get better as he adjusts to life in English football.
Others noted his link up play with right back Gaetano Berardi, and want him to start against Birmingham next week, even with the arrival of another winger in Will Buckley.
Here are some of the reactions from Leeds fans after Botaka's performance against Middlesbrough...
That cross from Botaka to Antenucci was class, thought he looked good me to say he was up against one of the best left backs in this league— Ali Gray (@leedsartwe) September 27, 2015
Loved Botaka pumping up the other players at 2-0 down. He worked very hard and showed glimpses of real class. Will be a success at #lufc— Charlie Sopp (@soppy13mot) September 27, 2015
