The Reds beat Villa 3-2 at Anfield yesterday.
Liverpool picked up a good win yesterday, getting one over on Brendan Rodgers’ bogey team Aston Villa.
But they were certainly made to work for the win. They won the game 3-2 thanks to goals from James Milner and a double from Daniel Sturridge. Those goals proved enough for all three points against Villa – despite Rudy Gestede scoring twice in the game.
For Sturridge it was a massive game.
The England international striker has had a torrid year with injuries and the goals were his first strikes since last April.
He was clearly pleased with the result and his own personal performance – as he highlighted on Twitter after the game.
Sturridge sent out this Tweet to his followers:
He was not the only Liverpool player who took to Twitter. Joe Gomez also sent out a winning message and Jordan Henderson also got involved. The captain was back in Liverpool after undergoing treatment on his broken foot in the USA.
He was clearly as happy as anyone to see Liverpool pick up a crucial three points.
Great win from the lads today! Congratulations James Milner on first goal for liverpool. Good to see… https://t.co/9ygTr9dlY0— Jordan Henderson (@JHenderson) September 26, 2015
Liverpool’s next fixture is against Sion in the Europa League and they will be hoping to pick up where they left off on Thursday night.
