Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to Georginio Wijnaldum’s performance for Newcastle United against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
The 24-year-old former Feyenoord midfielder started the Premier League game against the Blues at St. James’ Park and played for the entire 90 minutes.
Former Birmingham City central midfielder Muamba was watching the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw, and he was impressed with the shift put in by the Netherlands international.
Wijnaldum deserved to score his goal. He has been the best player on the pitch so far, on and off the ball he's been superb. #NEWCHE— fabrice muamba (@fmuamba) September 26, 2015
Wijnaldum was brilliant for Newcastle and showed his quality against defending Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday evening.
The former PSV star took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 77%, created one chance, put in one cross, attempted six dribbles, won 50% of his tackles, and made two blocks.
Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table with just three points from seven matches.
