Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has hailed Inverness midfielder Ryan Christie.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has told STV that Inverness midfielder Ryan Christie 'lit the place up' during Caley's 2-1 win over the Dons on Saturday.
Aberdeen's remarkable 100% record ended on Saturday, and after eight wins, McInnes saw his side lose for the first time away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Goals from Miles Storey and Ryan Christie put Caley 2-0 up, and whilst Ash Taylor did pull one back for Aberdeen, it wasn't enough for the Dons to maintain their unbeaten record.
Christie, 20, was the star of the show again for Inverness, as the midfielder maintains his high standards even after agreeing a move to Celtic.
The youngster, who has impressed with his hometown club in recent years, agreed a deadline day move to Celtic, but was loaned back to Inverness to continue his development.
It's unclear whether Christie will return to Celtic in January or next summer, but he looks set to have a big future with the Bhoys - and manager Ronny Deila will certainly be encouraged by Derek McInnes post-matches comments to STV about the midfielder.
"Ryan Christie lit the place up and we never got to grips with him," said McInnes, highlighting just how impressive the midfielder was in the 2-1 victory was Inverness against his Aberdeen side.
With a number of midfielders in contention for places at Celtic, Christie will have to prove his worth to Deila in order to get a regular first-team place.
Yet if rival managers are commenting on how impressive Christie is, it should give real encouragement to Deila ahead of Christie's imminent arrival at Celtic Park, suggesting that the Bhoys could have a real star on their hands in the coming years.
