The pundit feels something has to change at Newcastle United.
Robbie Savage believes Jurgen Klopp would be a good fit at Newcastle, according to his regular column in the Daily Mirror.
However, the pundit doubts the Tyneside outfit would be able to get him in to replace Steve McClaren.
Savage also feels the St James' Park side will not sack McClaren just yet due to the lack of 'obvious alternatives.' Under their current coach, Newcastle are yet to win in six Premier League games this season.
Savage told the Mirror: "I doubt Newcastle will sack McClaren, because there are not many obvious alternatives out there. Jurgen Klopp would be a good fit but I’m not sure they would be able to get him.
"Something drastic has got to change though, because a massive club with wonderfully loyal supporters is heading for the cliff-edge and they can’t find the handbrake."
Faced with the choice, most would expect the German to side with either the Bundesliga giants or the Anfield outfit.
That said, the right pitch from owner Mike Ashley would surely at least tempt the 48-year-old. Newcastle have a huge stadium, fan base and history.
But there are naturally drawbacks to taking over at St James' Park, as McClaren has seen, and Savage may well be right in that Ashley, Lee Charnley and co will be reluctant to make a change so soon. Unless, of course, Newcastle simply keep losing every single game until their manager's position becomes untenable...
