Leandro Bacuna offers insight into the mood of Aston Villa camp following poor start

Aston Villa have not won a Premier League match since the first game of the top-flight season.

Leandro Bacuna has told Aston Villa's official website that the side are feeling 'really confident', despite their poor start.

Villa have not won a league match since the opening day of the season, when they beat Bournemouth, but their win over Midlands rivals Birmingham City in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday has raised morale within the camp.

Bacuna now wants the Claret and Blues to kick on, and feels that the squad have the belief required to start turning their form around.

"We work hard as a team - the starting XI and those who come off the bench," he said. "It's the same on the training ground.

"There's a real togetherness and the new players are settling in well. I hope we can move forward now and start getting the results we deserve. It's still quite early on. We didn't have the perfect start but we feel really confident as a team.

"We're determined to go out there and get loads of points. We are not really struggling in terms of our play. The performances have been good. Everyone is supporting each other. That's important."

Villa have come under pressure due to the nature of their performances so far this season, which have been very disjointed.

Tim Sherwood's side have shown their ability for stages in matches, but inconsistency has plagued their progress and they have been too porous when put under pressure.

As a result, the Villans are down in 17th place in the Premier League, and there is a realisation that they need to improve quickly if they are to avoid a repeat of last season, where they were left to battle against relegation until late in the campaign.

Villa's next match comes this weekend against a Liverpool side who find themselves under similar pressure, having opened their campaign in disappointing form.
