John Barnes explains why he is not worried about Newcastle

St James Park

Newcastle United are struggling in the Premier League at the moment.

John Barnes explained on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning why he is not worried about Newcastle United.

"At this moment in time, I have no fears about Newcastle," the former Newcastle attacker said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning.

"I think Steve McClaren is a great manager, and I believe that they have good enough players to get out of this situation."

The Magpies are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in dire form.

While Barnes remains optimistic about Newcastle, not many fans will share his views and will want things to change rightaway.

The problem is that Steve McClaren’s side will take on Chelsea at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side have run into some good form lately, and they will be favourites to pick up all three points in Newcastle today.

The target for Newcastle at the start of the season was a top-10 finish, and there is still a good chance that they will achieve that objective.

A good performance against Chelsea this evening will give the fans some hope and optimism for the coming weeks.
