The Newcastle United winger has been linked with a loan move away from St James' Park.
Naturally, Steve McClaren was asked about the 19-year-old's future the next day during his pre-Chelsea press conference.
But the results have led to conflicting reports...
Indeed, the Shields Gazette suggest McClaren is willing to loan out the promising teenage winger. But the Chronicle have reported McClaren dismissing talk of Aarons leaving Newcastle on a temporary basis.
Both have carried similar but slightly different quotes from the Magpies boss - and therein lies the mystery.
Neither report is false and it appears the Newcastle head coach has simply using vague language that leaves him sitting on the fence. There is also the possibility he said different things to different reporters, although he most certainly wouldn't be pitting them against each other by providing them with contradictory information.
Logic would certainly suggest Aarons should stay at St James' Park in the near future.
But such has been the transfer policy at Newcastle in recent years, the possibility of the 19-year-old heading away from Tyneside would not be implausible...
