Robert Green pleased QPR had quiet deadline day

Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green believes the club will have a productive season.

Robert Green has told BBC Sport that the calm around Queens Park Rangers' deadline day dealings was a welcome change at the club.

Green has been with the R's since 2012, and the club have generally tended to rush through transfers at the last minute under previous regimes.

However, the settled feel around Loftus Road this time around was welcomed by Green, who says that QPR are aiming to piece together a strong season now that their key players have stuck around.

"Before the close of the transfer window nobody truly knew what was going to happen," Green said.

"People not moving - without a flurry of ins and outs on deadline day - was a welcome change and a positive one.

"The club can reassess. We are looking at maybe having a stronger season through the personnel [we have].

"The Championship is difficult to call over a whole season and we need everybody we can hold on to.

"So far the club have managed to do that. The joys of the football season is there is another transfer window around the corner, but we will cross that hurdle when we come to it."

The likes of Leroy Fer and Charlie Austin were among the players QPR could have lost over the summer, but they managed to keep hold of the duo and have assembled one of the strongest squads in the Championship.

The R's have talent in abundance and are no longer relying on experienced heads, as they have tended to in the past.

Chris Ramsey has been given the remit of building a young and hungry squad, and he has made a solid start to that quest by making a number of positive additions during the recent window.

Massimo Luongo and Tjaronn Chery are just two of the new recruits to have hit the ground running since arriving at Loftus Road, with both helping QPR to climb into 9th place in the second tier table.
