Stoke City striker Peter Crouch says that Newcastle United should not sack Steve McClaren.

Stoke City striker Peter Crouch said on The Sports Bar show on talkSPORT on Wednesday night that Newcastle United should maintain faith in Steve McClaren.

McClaren was appointed the Newcastle head coach in the summer, but he is coming under pressure due to the Magpies’ disappointing start to the season.

Newcastle are in the Premier League relegation zone at the moment and have also been knocked out of the League Cup by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Crouch has worked with the former Nottingham Forest and Derby County manager, and believes that Newcastle should not sack him.

“Well, I would, of course,” said Crouch on The Sports Bar show on talkSPORT on Wednesday night when asked if Newcastle should stick with McClaren.

McClaren is a very good coach and a good manager, and Newcastle should keep faith in him.

Although the Englishman is not getting results at the moment, he should be given time and shown patience.

Newcastle signed a number of players in the summer transfer window, and it takes time for a team to come together.
