Georginio Wijnaldum explains impact a win against Chelsea can have on Newcastle

St James Park

Newcastle United will face Chelsea at home in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has explained in The Sun the impact a win against Chelsea can have on the players.

The Magpies are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in dire form.

Steve McClaren’s side will take on Chelsea at St. James’ Park in the league on Saturday afternoon.

Chelsea will be firm favourites to pick up the three points despite being the visiting team, and it will be somewhat of an upset if Newcastle win against them.

Netherlands international Wijnaldum has highlighted just what it would mean for Newcastle if they do get the better of Chelsea at home.

“I think Chelsea is a good opportunity to get a good result,” the 24-year-old told The Sun. “That would give us a lot of confidence and faith in the team.”

Newcastle have been playing poorly this season, and they will not backed by many Premier League observers to win against Chelsea.

One advantage the Magpies have is that they are at home. If the St. James’ Park faithful are in loud voice throughout the 90 minutes, then McClaren’s side could pick up something.
