Brad Friedel suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Friday morning that Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer activity has been a success.
Tottenham signed Kevin Wimmer, Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Clinton N’Jie and Son Heung-min from FC Koln, Burnley, Atletico Madrid, Lyon and Bayer Leverkusen respectively in the summer transfer window.
The North London outfit also sold the likes of Paulinho, Younes Kaboul, Benjamin Stambouli and Vlad Chiriches among others, while Friedel himself retired at the end of the 2014-15 season.
The former Tottenham goalkeeper believes that the club’s business in the transfer window was perfect and and has advised the fans to keep faith in head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
“In this transfer window, they have gone forward,” Friedel said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on Friday morning
“I think for Tottenham supporters, they do need to remain positive,” added Friedel. “I have said this many, many times. Mauricio is an outstanding worker, and he knows how to man-manage the club as well.”
Tottenham have not made a great start to the 2015-16 Premier League campaign, with star striker Harry Kane yet to score in the league.
However, Spurs are ninth in the league table at the moment with nine points from six matches, just three points behind fourth-place Leicester City.
A top-four finish is not entirely impossible, but the North London side do need to be more consistent and put together a run of positive results.
