Arsenal boss says Wilshere's operation was successful.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is feeling positive about Jack Wilshere's recovery.
The midfielder has been out of action all season, and recently had to undergo surgery on his injured ankle.
Wenger is quoted by The Mail, feeling confident the Wilshere will be back later this year.
He said: "Wilshere has had his operation. It went well. Back in December, Christmas."
The England international had not been expected to come back until 2016, but if he can play a part before the year is out, his return would be a real boost for the Gunners.
Arsenal will need as many players available as they can muster for the busy festive period of fixtures, where squad rotation is key.
The problem regarding Wilshere, and Arsenal, is that in recent years, injury prognosis and return dates have not been particularly accurate.
Wilshere was originally supposed to return from this injury in August, only for it to be revealed he needed surgery.
The midfielder will be desperate to remain fit after he recovers, with an eye on a place at Euro 2016 with England next summer.
