Report: Tottenham Hotspur and Everton the front-runners in race for unhappy Inter Milan captain Andrea Ranocchia

The Italian international is currently struggling for regular first-team football.

The Daily Star are reporting that both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are considered the frontrunners for the signature of Inter Milan club captain Andrea Ranocchia.

The report claims that the 27-year-old is fed up of being isolated by Inter boss Roberto Mancini and with the Nerazurri performing on the pitch itself he faces an uphill struggle getting back into the team.

With that in mind it appears he might be available in January, although he only recently signed a new deal for Inter so would be expensive.

Tottenham’s defensive situation has seemed suspect all season. They have Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier to rely on – but Federico Fazio and Kevin Wimmer are yet to impress.

Everton meanwhile still have concerns over the future of John Stones and are perhaps still one man short in the centre-back department.

The 27-year-old centre-back has been at Inter since joining from Genoa in 2011 and is their current club captain. He has 20 caps for the Italian national team and has also been linked with the likes of Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace in the past.
