Paul Clement said at his press conference this afternoon - covered by the club's official Twitter account - that Derby County's defensive solidity has impressed him during his short time at the iPro Stadium.
Derby have conceded just six times in their opening eight Championship matches, meaning they have the joint-third tightest defence in the entire division.
It is a stat which Clement is understandably pleased with, and he feels that once they can start finding their groove at the opposite end of the field, then the Rams will move up the table rapidly.
Clement: "I've been impressed with the defending so far. That is the foundation of what we do. We are more than capable of creating chances"— Derby County (@dcfcofficial) September 24, 2015
Derby have scored seven times so far in the league, and their most recent outing against Burnley, which was drawn 0-0, rather highlighted their struggles going forward.
The Rams failed to create many chances of note against Burnley, and ultimately the game summed up their season so far.
Derby have proved themselves tough to beat, but their total of two wins simply isn't good enough for a side that have made no secret of their desire to be promoted.
Thankfully for the Rams, they do have a forward line packed with quality, and it should only be a matter of time before the likes of Darren Bent, Chris Martin and Johnny Russell start finding top form.
