The 19-year-old netted during United's 3-0 win over Ipswich Town in the League Cup.
Manchester United welcomed a new star into their midst in their League Cup win over Ipswich Town, when young Brazilian attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira scored his first goal for the club and won the man of the match award in just his third game, and the youngster quickly took to Twitter to celebrate his Stretford End strike.
Pereira made his debut last season against Tottenham last season having starred for the youth teams since arriving from PSV in 2012, but he was making his first appearance of the season in Wednesday's match with the Tractor Boys.
The 19-year-old curled home a wonderful free kick for United's second goal, and afterwards he told MUTV that Juan Mata had given him the go ahead to take over set-piece duties to register his first strike for the club.
"I asked Juan for the ball and he gave it to me," Pereira told MUTV. "We’ve been practising together and he trusted me. It’s very special for me to score my first goal, a free-kick at the Stretford End as well. It’s just like a dream come true. I’m very happy for my family, for impressing my manager and doing well for my club."
Pereira was later voted man of the match by United fans voting on Twitter after proving himself a huge attacking threat on the night, and his performance against a Championship side at such a young age certainly emphasises that he is a footballer of immense talent.
Perhaps the only question for the forward will be, when is he going to get his first league start?
