Manchester City defender Ellis Plummer is being lined up for a loan move to League One outfit Walsall, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Plummer, who joined City's academy from Stockport in 2006, is highly-regarded by the club's hierarchy.
The 21-year-old, who can play as a central defender or at left full-back, has yet to make a senior appearance for City, but he has been a regular in Patrick Vieira's Elite Development Squad for the last couple of seasons.
Plummer has had two previous spells out on loan from City, spending a month at Oldham Athletic in 2013, where he made four appearances, and last season he joined Scottish Premiership side St Mirren on a season-long agreement.
Plummer impressed during his loan stint at St Mirren, making seven appearances for the club before City cut short his stay.
City are happy to loan out Plummer so that he can get valuable first-team experience under his belt, and a number of clubs are thought to have made enquiries for the defender.
However, Walsall are at the front of the queue to land Plummer, with the player set to link up with them for training before joining on loan.
