Very few players emerged with credit on Wednesday night at Anfield as Liverpool needed penalties to beat League Two Carlisle to make it through to the fourth round of the League Cup - where they will face Bournemouth on home soil.
Danny Ings will be one player who will receive some credit for his display, as his tireless work rate was on full display once more, and he managed to find the net for the second time in as many games to give the home side a lead before it was cancelled out by a Derek Asamoah strike.
While Liverpool toiled and had close to 50 shots in an effort to try and find that elusive second goal, Carlisle managed to hold out to take the tie to penalties, which gave debutant Adam Bogdan the opportunity to become a hero on his debut - an opportunity he grasped by saving three penalties to ensure the Reds progressed 3-2 on spot kicks.
Though you can have some issues with his role in the equalising goal, he took the opportunity to emerge with some credit by performing his penalty shootout heroics, and as a result he seemed to be one of very few Liverpool players to have emerged with any brownie points.
Here is a selection of what was said afterwards on Twitter:
