Gary Gardner reacts on Twitter to Lichaj and Ward performances v Huddersfield

The Aston Villa midfielder took to social media while watching his former club Nottingham Forest.

Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner was full of praise for Eric Lichaj and Jamie Ward after Nottingham Forest drew with Huddersfield on Thursday night.

A late goal denied Forest all three points, with Dougie Freedman's men having led thanks to Ryan Mendes' opener.

And Aston Villa man Gardner, who spent some of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, is still keeping an eye on his former side.

During the game, he praised Eric Lichaj for the assist he registered on Twitter, while also singling out the shift Jamie Ward put in before he was taken off in the second half.

Elsewhere, ex-Forest man David Johnson reacted to his former side's goal by praising Lichaj and highlighting the composure shown by Mendes during his first for the Championship club.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa's Gardner rounded off his tweeting by suggesting Huddersfield didn't deserve their point and that he was gutted for his former club.

Next up for Nottingham Forest is a tough home clash against Hull City at the City Ground, which isn't until the 3rd of October.
