Darren O’Dea appears to rate Celtic duo Kris Commons and Anthony Stokes highly

Darren O’Dea has stated on social networking site Twitter that Kris Commons should get more games for Celtic.

Former Celtic defender O’Dea made his comments during the BhoysScottish League Cup third-round tie against Raith Rovers at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening.

Attacking midfielder Commons started the encounter and played until the 66th minute, scoring the opening goal in a 2-0 win in the process.

The former Nottingham Forest and Derby County star has not been used regularly by Celtic manager Ronny Deila so far this season, and Mumbai City FC defender O’Dea is surprised at that.

O’Dea, who also played for Leeds United, Toronto FC and Blackpool, has launched a defence of Anthony Stokes on Twitter.

Republic of Ireland international Stokes has been on the books of Celtic since 2010, but he has been struggling for playing time recently.

The 27-year-old striker, who has often been deployed out wide by Deila, is rated highly by O’Dea, who has advised the Celtic fans to embrace the former Sunderland man.
