Chelsea seem to be getting their season into gear, having recorded a third successive win in all competitions as they ran out 4-1 victors over Walsall in the League Cup at the Banks's Stadium.
It was the first game of Diego Costa's three-game ban, so it gave Jose Mourinho the opportunity to look at his other striking options, with Frenchman Loic Remy managing to get himself on the scoresheet, and doing his chances of being considered for the trip to Newcastle United at the weekend no harm.
Ramires, Kennedy and Pedro were also among the goals, with Kennedy in particular showing that he has the makings of a footballer who could make a positive contribution to the side going forward, whether it's from the start or from the substitutes' bench.
As a result of his goalscoring display, some feel he is the ideal player to fill in for the banned Costa for the next two games, as Chelsea try and keep this new-found momentum going after a slow start to their campaign. Radamel Falcao started alongside Remy, but didn't seem to have the same kind of impact on the game as the Frenchman did.
Here is a selection of what has been said on Twitter about Remy's performance:
Remy is so clinical and reliable. Love this guy. So underrated.— ️ (@HazardEdition) September 23, 2015
Given tonight's performances from the two, Loic Remy deserves to start vs Newcastle ahead of Radamel Falcao.— TweetChelseaFC (@TweetChelseaFC) September 23, 2015
Loic Remy...always takes his chances. Deserves to lead the Chelsea line. Meanwhile this kid Kennedy is something.— Eugene Awomill (@EujahCFC) September 24, 2015
