The defender is out of action for two months after surgery on a hamstring problem.
The Magpies defender has undergone surgery on an injured hamstring and is expected to be out of action until the end of November.
The one club man has been struggling with injury problems throughout his career. The 29-year-old has played just twice this season and has not featured in over a month. Last season he played just 12 times and the season before just 11 times – just 23 times in two seasons.
Even when he does play his impact is questionable.
The old-school defender will put his body on the line but he is still prone to errors, red cards and of course injury – it is concerning and Newcastle fans must be wondering why the club did not do more to bring in more than just Chancel Mbemba as a central-defensive reinforcement this summer.
Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson are certainly not filling fans with overwhelming confidence at this time.
As for Taylor, the consensus on Twitter was unanimous. Newcastle fans appear to have lost patience with their injury-prone veteran and would happily see him leave if it meant a more reliable replacement arriving.
Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
