The Gunners took the lead against Spurs in the 26th minute at White Hart Lane when French midfielder Mathieu Flamini found the target.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored an own goal in the 56th minute, but Arsene Wenger’s side found the winner 12 minutes from time through a superb goal from Flamini.
Podolski, who left Galatasaray for Arsenal in the summer transfer window, was following the match, and he was pleased with his former club’s win in the North London derby.
Arsenal will face Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday away from home at Hillsborough in the fourth round of the League Cup.
