HITC Sport understands that a contract extension is close as Premier League rivals continue to monitor the promising striker's situation.

Leicester City are close to finalising a new long-term deal for striking starlet Joe Dodoo, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the proposed agreement.

The 20-year-old is a product of Leicester’s academy and has made a huge impact this season in the League Cup, claiming a hat-trick against Bury and also scoring against West Ham United on Tuesday night.

Dodoo’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season, and this has not gone unnoticed, with a number of their Premier League rivals keen on landing the Ghana-born youngster.

HITC Sport understands that Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and West Ham are among the clubs taking a keen interest in Dodoo’s progress at the King Power Stadium.

But Leicester are comfortable with how talks have progressed and sources have confirmed to HITC that they are confident a deal will be announced soon.

Should fresh terms be signed, the Foxes can build for the future safe in the knowledge that a top talent will be central to those plans.
