Kyle Lafferty ready to return to Europe if Norwich path remains blocked

HITC Sport understands a second spell at Sion in Switzerland could be on the cards for the Northern Ireland international.

Kyle Lafferty is set to move back to Switzerland in January if he cannot force his way into Norwich City’s first-team plans by then, HITC Sport understands.

The Northern Ireland international striker has yet to make an appearance this season, but he is set to feature in the League Cup clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Lafferty, who joined Norwich from Palermo in 2014, has never enjoyed a regular run under Alex Neil, but he is hoping his recent form for his national side will aide his quest.

Swiss side Sion, who Lafferty enjoyed a year with in 2013, almost tied up an agreement for the 28-year-old earlier this month, but the deal failed to materialise in the final days of the transfer window.

Sion’s interest remains and they will make a renewed approach for him in the New Year, if he has not forced a breakthrough at Carrow Road by that stage.

Lafferty may be chomping at the bit by then, as he also has next summer's European Championship to think about, with Northern Ireland progressing positively towards the finals in France.
