The Manchester United midfielder has warned his side needs to be focused this evening.
Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to Twitter ahead of his side’s Capital One Cup clash against Ipswich Town, and based on his message it seems the German international could be involved against the Championship side this evening.
United are expected to give some of their fringe players and youngsters a chance in the competition, but manager Louis van Gaal will be keen to avoid the embarrassment he suffered a year ago when his side lost 4-0 to MK Dons.
Schweinsteiger started Sunday’s match against Southampton on the bench, coming on for the last 30 minutes of the 3-2 victory.
As a result it would make sense for him to get more minutes under his belt against Ipswich, ahead of Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin who both started against the Saints.
Writing on social media, Schweinsteiger said, “League Cup against Ipswich; we have to be very focussed!”
They certainly do, and if the 31-year-old starts in the centre of the pitch the younger players around him will be in no danger of letting that focus slip. In fact, playing the German skipper from the outset could be a master-stroke.
