West Ham United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City in the third round of the League Cup on Tuesday evening.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has taken to social networking site Twitter to give his reaction to the side’s defeat to Leicester City away from home on Tuesday evening.

The Hammers suffered a 2-1 loss to their Premier League rivals in the third round of the League Cup at the King Power Stadium.

Joe Dodoo put Leicester in the lead as early as the sixth minute when he found the target from close range, but Argentine attacker Mauro Zarate equalised for West Ham with a 25-yard drive on 27 minutes.

The match went into extra time as it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes. With four minutes of the extra-time period left, Andy King headed home Christian Fuchs’ cross to win the tie for Leicester.

West Ham co-owner Gold has admitted his disappointment with the final result on Twitter, but he has stressed that the team must bounce back with a win against Norwich City at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League on Saturday.

Over the course of the 120 minutes at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday evening, visiting West Ham had 61% of the possession, took 12 shots of which four were on target, and earned eight corners.
