Taking a look at three Tottenham Hotspur players who could have a key role in the League Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur take on Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Wednesday with far more than just bragging rights up for grabs.
The two teams meet in the third round of the Capital One Cup and that is a competition Tottenham in particular could aim to win this season given their impressive squad development.
As for Arsenal, they will not want to lose three games on the bounce but that is a distinct possibility after the Gunners were defeated by Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea in recent days.
Here we take a look at three Tottenham players who could be key against Arsene Wenger’s side:
While there are likely to be a few changes for Tottenham you can expect Eric Dier to continue in the centre of the part.
The England under-21 international has been brilliant for Spurs in a defensive midfield role this season and manager Mauricio Pochettino would be crazy not to play him against Arsenal.
Spurs need to keep their opponents’ attacking players at bay and win the midfield battle and Dier can play a significant role in both.
It may be strange to put Harry Kane’s name in here considering his poor recent run of form, but he remains Tottenham’s most effective striking option.
Heung-Min Son has impressed since arriving from Bayer Leverkusen but there will be no better time for Kane to rediscover his scoring touch.
He will be key to the outcome but hopefully it will be because he has found the net and not because he has struggled once again.
Left-back Danny Rose had a poor game against FK Qarabag in the Europa League but he could well replace Ben Davies in a slightly changed back-line on Wednesday.
The former Sunderland loanee has the talent to excel in a game like this and if he plays to his potential he could be the attacking threat down the left side that makes all the difference in what is sure to be a tight game.
