Tim Sherwood has warned his Aston Villa players that they will have to keep a close eye on Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson if they want to win their Capital One Cup tie, in comments made to the club's official website.
Villa are preparing to take on local rivals Birmingham in a Midlands derby, and Sherwood is keen to ensure that his team do not suffer with complacency.
Although the Blues play in the Championship, Sherwood still feels that they pose a sizeable threat - and he has singled Donaldson out as a player who could hurt his defence if they are not at their best.
"I know they're very organised," he said. "They've got a goal threat too. Donaldson's been very good. I've watched him quite a bit. I think he's one that's going to need to be watched.
"We know what Demarai Gray can offer. He's a very exciting young talent. [David] Cotterill has been around the block a few times. They've got experience and youth in the right areas. They've got a nice blend."
Birmingham travel to Villa Park full of confidence after making a bright start to their Championship campaign, having lost just once over the season to date.
Donaldson's form during this time has been good, too, with the striker helping to create chances for his teammates through his physicality, while also chipping in with three goals of his own.
As a result, Villa will have to make sure that they are fully focused throughout the tie, which they will be desperate to win with the pressure on.
The Claret and Blues have been in poor form since the start of the season, and another defeat against Birmingham will threaten to turn the atmosphere at Villa Park against those in charge of generating results.
