Aston Villa meet Birmingham City in the Capital One Cup with the pressure on them to pick up a victory.
Villa take on Birmingham in the Capital One Cup third round tonight, in what looks set to be a fiercely contested Midlands derby.
Sherwood has already told the club's official website that he intends to pick a team that will not shirk the challenge of playing under such pressure, and he has now named four players who has complete faith in.
"You learn as you go but the ones I know about, I think they are big enough characters to cope with it," he said.
"I think Ashley Westwood is certainly that. I'm not sure you're going to be seeing Joleon Lescot, Ciaran Clark and Micah Richards shirk any challenges so I think there is a good blend of players who can get us on the ball and make us tick. It is a big game but they've been on big occasions before."
Villa need to beat Birmingham to relieve some of the pressure which has fallen on them as a result of their poor start.
The Claret and Blues head into the match against Gary Rowett's men having just lost to West Bromwich Albion, and they simply cannot afford to lose their second derby match in a week.
Villa have failed to pick up a win in the league since the opening day of the season, when they beat Bournemouth, and they desperately need to find a way of getting back on track sooner rather than later.
Beating Birmingham will be a challenge, though, as the Championship side are in such good form. The Blues have been very resilient and will travel to Villa Park confident in their ability of causing an upset.
