Carroll and Dier anticipate special Tottenham and Arsenal clash

Both players are anticipating a red hot White Hart Lane atmosphere for the Capital One Cup tie.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham duo Tom Carroll and Eric Dier are anticipating a special Capital One cup clash against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Spurs take on their fierce rivals in the third round of the competition on Wednesday evening having endured entirely different weekend results against rivals in the Premier League.

While Tottenham were beaten Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane, Arsene Wenger’s side suffered yet another defeat to Chelsea as they were beaten 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Cup competitions are a different prospect though and Carroll says form counts for nothing.

“It’s a huge game and I’m sure everyone associated with the club is looking forward to it,” he told

“Form counts for nothing in a game like this, but our aims are to progress in all the competitions so it should be a great match.”

Dier anticipating a good White Hart Lane atmosphere

Dier, who has found himself starring in a new defensive midfield role this season, is anticipating another fine atmosphere at the Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have won their last three games in all competitions, with the recent win over Crystal Palace following the defeat of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light and Qarabag in the Europa League.

Night games always offer something special whatever ground they are at, and Dier is looking forward to taking on the Gunners under the lights, anticipating the fans being right behind them once again.

“It’s a night game, though, which will really add to the atmosphere,” he added.

“Our fans were fantastic against Palace on Sunday and also last week in the Europa League, so we know we can look forward to having them right behind us again and hopefully we can get a good result.”
