Duncan Watmore will not be involved for Sunderland's Capital One Cup match against Manchester City, according to a report in the Chronicle.
Watmore scored a hat-trick against City's development side at the weekend, as he once again impressed at under-21 level, where he has been consistently excellent.
However, it seems that Dick Advocaat will stick with his more experienced options for the Capital One Cup tie at the Stadium of Light.
The Dutchman has suggested to the Chronicle that he will tinker with his line-up in the fixture, but Watmore is reportedly not going to get a look in.
That is sure to be a disappointment to the youngster, as he is doing everything within his power to prove his worth to the club.
Watmore has made four senior appearances for Sunderland and scored twice, while he has continued to dazzle for the development side, but Advocaat is persisting with his tried-and-tested players.
Unfortunately, the Dutch manager's tactic has not worked so far - with Sunderland struggling for goals - but he will hope that his players repay his faith tonight, in what looks a tough test against Manuel Pellegrini's side.
