People News: Bank of America, Deutsche, UBS

Bank of America has hired John Utendahl from Deutsche Bank, naming him executive vice chairman of global corporate and investment banking.

Utendahl will report to Christian Meissner, head of global corporate and investment banking, according to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg. He will join Bank of America in October, based in New York.

Utendahl has served as vice chairman of investment banking at Deutsche Bank since March 2010. He focused on 'cultivating and enhancing major platinum client relationships' at the largest bank, according to Black Enterprise magazine’s 2011 list of the 75 most powerful black people on Wall Street.

In the meantime, Bloomberg reports that UBS hired oil-and-gas investment banker Chris Rutherford from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce to add to its energy team in Houston.

Rutherford, who was an executive director at CIBC’s Calgary office, starts in November as a managing director with UBS’s global energy team. He’ll report to Rob Pierce, head of energy in the Americas for the investment bank. Erica Chase, a spokeswoman for UBS, confirmed Rutherford’s hiring and title.
