The Leeds United youngster has been rewarded for his brilliant performance at the weekend.
Leeds United youngster Mallik Wilks was rewarded with his four-goal haul for the under-18 side at the weekend with a place on the bench for the under-21s just three days later.
Leeds have a number of exciting young strikers on their books right now but Wilks is generating plenty of attention having scored seven goals in just six matches this season, and four in a 9-2 rout against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
Robbie McDaid, Frank Mulhern and summer signing Lee Erwin are all trying to do enough to get a first-team chance under manager Uwe Rosler this season, but Wilks is also one to watch and the club’s hierarchy have clearly rewarded him for his recent outstanding form.
While Erwin has struggled to impress for the under-21s this season, Mulhern has taken his chances with aplomb, and whatever they are doing to develop the young strikers at Elland Road right now, Wilks is clearly also benefiting.
Of course there is a very long way to go, but on recent evidence it may not be long before Wilks is smashing them in for the under-21s as well as the under-18s…and from there, who knows?
