Confirmed: Sunderland v Manchester City lineups

Sunderland and Manchester City will face each other at the Stadium of Light in the League Cup this evening…

Manchester City will be looking to return to winning ways this evening when they take on Sunderland away from home in the League Cup.

The Citizens will head into the third-round tie at the Stadium of Light on the back of a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at home in the Premier League.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be determined to put that loss at the Etihad Stadium behind them and progress to the fourth round of the League Cup at the expense of Sunderland.

The Black Cats are in a wretched run of form at the moment and are currently at the foot of the Premier League table with just two points.

Dick Advocaat’s side are struggling to score goals, and they will not fancy taking on City this evening.

Sunderland have won six of their previous seven home League Cup games, scoring 19 goals in the process.

City have scored in 16 consecutive away League Cup matches, stretching back to the third round in 2003-04.
