The Celtic manager has been speaking about one of his key players this season.
Celtic are preparing for their upcoming Scottish League Cup match against Raith Rovers on Wednesday evening and Deila is hopeful that striker Griffiths will be available after picking up an injury against Dundee at the weekend.
“He’s stiff in his calf,” the Celtic boss said. “He had that before the Ajax game but he gets treatment all the time and is available.”
Griffiths is enjoying an absolutely outstanding campaign to date, scoring in all but one of his league appearances and netting 10 times in 15 matches in all competitions.
At this rate the Scotland international could be breaking a few records by the end of the season but he will be keeping his feet on the ground for now.
Celtic will be hoping to go on to win the League Cup this season but they will also be aware that Aberdeen are already five points ahead of them in the league and the sheer number of matches the Bhoys could be forced to play in the coming months may ultimately take their toll.
That said, they have the players to cope and it will be interesting to see who Deila picks to take on Raith later this week.
