Tottenham media round-up: Club tracking Luka Jovic, Vertonghen backs Kane to start scoring

A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Tottenham Hotspur this Monday evening…

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the striker who is tipped to be the next Radamel Falcao, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The report claims that the club are keeping their eyes on 17-year-old Red Star Belgrade striker Luka Jovic who has scored three goals in the first four games of the Serbian season.

The club reportedly value the player at around £6 million having already rejected a bid from Atletico Madrid, while Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be interested in a move for the teenager - along with Ajax and Benfica.

Understandably there will be those that view the comparisons with the former Atletico, Porto and Manchester United striker - who is currently on loan at Chelsea from Monaco - as a little premature.

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is confident that Harry Kane will start to find the net again pretty soon as he has drawn a blank in his first six games of the season.

It didn't matter on Sunday, however, as Son Heung-min's strike was enough to give Spurs a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace and back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season.

But Kane's form remains in the spotlight after a truly wonderful season last term where he scored in excess of 20 Premier League goals.

Vertonghen is quoted in the London Evening Standard as saying: "He has just been a bit unlucky. He scored for England and in the training sessions he has been doing very well, so the goals will come.

“He’s not a guy who will just have one good season and then you never see him again. He has the qualities to perform and the goals will come eventually.”
