The 24-year-old defender, who joined the Saints from Celtic in the summer transfer window, played the entire 90 minutes.

The Dutch centre-back did not have a great game, as he was well beaten by Anthony Martial for United’s equaliser in the 34th minute.

Martial turned Van Dijk brilliantly for his goal, and it is something that the Southampton man will be disappointed with.
