Slaven Bilic praises West Ham United's creative players

West Ham United have been hugely impressive on their travels this season, beating Manchester City in their most recent outing.

Slaven Bilic has told the Daily Mirror that the hard-working attitude of his creative players is the reason why West Ham United have made such an impressive start to the season.

The Hammers won 2-1 at Manchester City in their most recent outing, and they currently sit in third place in the Premier League table.

It has been a opening to the 2015/16 campaign which has raised a few eyebrows, and Bilic has suggested that his players' work-rate is a major contributing factor to their flying start.

“The best thing is to make football players fight for the team," he said. "[Dimitri] Payet and [Manuel] Lanzini, they fight for the team and they are running at the end. It’s not common for those type of players to do that, you know what I mean? They like to be more flashy. That’s why we are winning games.”

West Ham's win against City was certainly achieved on the basis of hard work, with the side staying organised in defence and breaking forward in numbers.

It is a style which the Hammers' squad seems perfectly suited to, with the Londoners already boasting wins against City, Liverpool and Arsenal on their travels this term.

The additions of Dimitri Payet and Manuel Lanzini have certainly helped to improve the side, and their presence cannot be understated. West Ham had lacked a spark under Sam Allardyce, but they now have creativity flowing throughout the team.

As a result, optimism at Upton Park is on the rise and the Hammers will be hoping to build their momentum even further by winning their next match on Tuesday against Leicester City.
