Former Premier League boss Ian Holloway says Tottenham can go onto win trophies if they keep their star players.
Holloway believes Dele Alli can become the catalyst for this, and Spurs must do all they can to keep hold of the midfielder.
The pundit told SkySports Morning View on Monday 21st September that Alli is already impressing him with the way he has started the season with his new club.
He said: "I think the biggest compliment is he looks like a Tottenham player. He is playing with no fear, and is only going to get stronger.
"I would say please don't sell him on. Keep buying. Your fans might actually see some silverware eventually."
There is no undercurrent to Holloway's comments regarding Alli's future, with the midfielder signing a long-term deal with Spurs until 2020 when he made his move from MK Dons.
What he is alluding to are the mistakes Spurs have made previously, selling the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric for big profits, rather than keeping a talented team together.
Alli is one of just a number of youngsters who can be the core of Tottenham's future for years to come, alongside Harry Kane, Ryan Mason, and Nabil Bentaleb, while Alex Pritchard, Harry Winks and Josh Onomah could yet go onto prove themselves at the club.
Tottenham reached the Capital One Cup Final last season, and if they continue to build and keep their side together then as Holloway suggests, eventually it could pay off.
