Crystal Palace have been impressed by Matt Stevens' first-team appearances for Barnet so far.

According to The Sun, as cited in a report by Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Barnet youngster Matt Stevens.

Palace have been scouting the League Two striker for some time, as revealed by HITC Sport in July, and have been impressed by his performances in the fourth tier in English football.

Stevens has made two appearances this season, to add to his one senior display last term, and he has largely impressed despite his tender years.

The 17-year-old still has a lot of developing to do if he is to make it at the top level, but Palace are reportedly willing to offer £250,000 to secure his services.

That fee would represent a significant amount of money for Barnet, as they look to adapt to playing at League Two level again.

The Bees were promoted from the Conference during the 2014/15 campaign, but the momentum they carried into the new term has not counted for much so far.

Barnet are currently sat in 21st position in League Two, and they have won just two of their opening eight games under the guidance of Martin Allen.
