Manchester United youngster James Wilson showed his credentials once again by scoring for the under-21s.
He netted in the win over Everton, having created the first goal for teammate James Weir.
With a potential first team opportunity on the horizon in midweek, the game was the perfect tune-up for the striker to show manager Louis van Gaal what he can do.
The Red Devils host Championship side Ipswich Town on Wednesday, and Wilson will be hoping to add to his tally of four first team goals.
He netted the winner for England's under-21 side earlier this month, and has attracted interest from Championship clubs keen on taking him on loan.
United have so far resisted advances, and last week flew him to Holland as part of the Champions League squad to face PSV, although he did not make the match day 18.
If Wilson can make his make this week, United's attacking options will suddenly be looking up, after new signing Anthony Martial hit the ground running.
Wilson and Martial are both 19-years-old, and among the most highly rated players among their peers.
It would surely make sense for Van Gaal to keep them together and try to learn from one another and get used to playing together, if he sees Wilson having an important first team role in years to come, rather than sending him out on loan.
After his goal for the under-21s last night Manchester United fans were clear in their message; they want Wilson to stay.
Here is a look at how they reacted to his strike...
Don't see how LVG won't put James Wilson up front he would be amazing specially with martial #MUFC— S a r a h ✨ (@SarahKillops_) September 21, 2015

Playing at this level is a waste of time for Wilson. He was too good for U21s football before he even played it. Class goal. #mufc— Samuel Luckhurst (@samuelluckhurst) September 21, 2015
