Gaetano Berardi has penned a new contract with Leeds United, which will keep at Elland Road until 2018.
Gaetano Berardi has told Leeds United's official website that he is feeling very happy at Elland Road, after being utilised in his favoured position by Uwe Rosler.
The Swiss defender was brought to the club in the summer of 2014, and had a difficult debut campaign, where he was given a number of different roles.
However, since Rosler has taken charge, the German has made Berardi his first-choice right-back and the defender, who has penned a new two-year deal with the Whites, says that he is feeling better than ever.
“This time I started the pre-season and that is very important. My body is better and I feel fitter," he enthused. “I have been playing right-back, which is my position. We are playing well with the full-backs in every game. I hope to stay in this position through hard work every day and hard work every match.”
“I’m very happy here. The city and everything is very good. “We are a team this season after many changes last season. We are a very good group together - that is important. Last season the first two or three months were difficult for me and for the other new players."
Berardi has already made eight appearances for Leeds this season, and he has been one of the most consistent performers in their team.
He has made vast improvements on his displays form last term, where his defending was erratic at times, even if his commitment has never been questioned.
Berardi's good form has helped the Whites to make an encouraging start to the season under Rosler's guidance - with the former Brentford boss making them a tough outfit to beat.
Leeds have still only lost one Championship match so far this term, and their 2-1 win against Milton Keynes Dons at the weekend has lifted them up to 10th in the table.
