Everton should give Leandro Rodriguez the chance to shine against Reading

One of Everton's summer signings will surely be hoping for a chance to impress later this week.

Everton take on Reading in the third round of the Capital One Cup later this week and manager Roberto Martinez could well give a recent addition his first taste of senior competitive action with the Toffees.

Leandro Rodriguez signed for Everton from River Plate Montevideo for £500,000 (as reported by the BBC) but thus far he has been plying his trade with the under-21s as he gets used to his new surroundings.

Rodriguez has already scored for Everton’s under-21 side against Reading and Sunderland this season and a first-team debut against the Royals would be the perfect chance to introduce him to more of his new fans.

Rodriguez scored 20 goals in 78 matches for his former club and at just 22 he has plenty of time to develop into a very effective striker at Goodison Park.

Everton drew 0-0 with Swansea City at the weekend and Martinez will almost certainly make changes for the upcoming cup match; so Rodriguez could yet take this chance and never look back, such is his talent in front of goal.
